Private jet charter FAQ

Most trips are priced by the flight hour. Typical US ranges run from about $1,800–3,200 an hour for a turboprop, $3,500–5,500 for a light jet and $6,500–9,500 for a super-midsize jet, up to $12,000–20,000 or more for an ultra long range jet, before tax and fees. The cost estimator turns those ranges into an estimate for your route.

The flight itself, the 7.5% federal excise tax on domestic US flights, segment fees, and the landing, handling, repositioning and crew costs known in advance, including daily minimums and overnights on multi-day trips. Variable items such as winter de-icing are flagged in the quote rather than hidden.

Because the aircraft has to get back to its base, or come from it. That positioning time is part of the cost. On a round trip the aircraft may wait for you instead, so you pay daily minimums and crew overnights rather than empty flying. Your advisor prices both ways when it is close.

An empty leg is a repositioning flight an aircraft has to make anyway, offered at a discount, often 25–75% off. The route and time are fixed, and the flight can be canceled if the original trip changes, so it suits flexible plans. Ask your advisor to look for one that matches your route.

No. We arrange on-demand charter, priced trip by trip. Jet cards are prepaid hours with peak-day surcharges and daily minimums; fractional ownership is a share of an aircraft, such as a sixteenth for about 50 hours a year, plus monthly and hourly fees. On-demand charter suits travelers who want each trip priced on its own.

No. There is no membership, deposit or sign-up to request a quote. Payment terms are set out in the charter agreement once you choose an aircraft.

Whenever you know the dates. Around holidays and major events, aircraft are booked early, so more notice means more choice. Shorter-notice trips are often possible, subject to availability.

Changes and cancellations follow the charter agreement, which sets out any fees by how much notice you give. You see those terms before you sign.

Yes. Multi-city itineraries are planned leg by leg around crew duty limits and airport hours, and international trips include the customs and permit work the route needs.

An FAA Part 135 direct air carrier, or its foreign equivalent, that holds operational control of the aircraft. Get Private Jet is a broker: we arrange the flight and name the operator in your quote, before you book.

They are third-party safety audits. ARGUS rates operators Gold, Gold+ or Platinum; Wyvern certifies operators to its Wingman standard; IS-BAO registers operators at Stages 1–3. None is required by law, and ratings change over time, so ask about the operator in your quote.

Most travelers arrive at the private terminal 15 to 30 minutes before departure. International trips need a little longer for passports and customs paperwork. Your itinerary gives the exact terminal and time.

Not of the airline kind on most charter flights. Staff or the crew check each passenger’s government-issued photo ID against the manifest, and passports on international trips.

It depends on the aircraft. A light jet holds a few soft bags per person; a large cabin takes far more. Tell us about skis, golf clubs or large hard cases when you request so the right aircraft is quoted.

Many aircraft accept pets, subject to the operator’s approval. Tell us the number, size and breed of your pets when you request, and check entry rules before flying abroad.
